Todd Fjelsted’s art career began in the ‘90s gallery scene of the Southeast, where his critically-lauded works included painting, sculpture, and installation. After segueing into commercial design for photography and stage production, he spent four years at a video production company merging full-scale and miniature builds with CGI. In 2002, while moonlighting as an arts reviewer for NC’s Independent Weekly, Fjelsted produced and directed The Firefly Man, an elaborate animated short film that premiered at Telluride and sold to The Sundance Channel.

In 2003, Fjelsted moved to Los Angeles to pursue art, design and filmmaking ventures. In the twenty years since, he has built visual worlds for dozens of productions — including award-winning series for HBO, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Showtime, and Disney+. His earlier design work encompassed film and television promos, album packaging, and celebrity portraits for GQ, Vanity Fair, and TIME Magazine. He helped to build the aesthetics for several independent films that screened at Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, and Tribeca.

In 2018, Fjelsted won an Art Director’s Guild Award and a Primetime Emmy for his work on dramedy series GLOW — and a second ADG Award in 2019. In 2020, he was again nominated for an Emmy and for a third consecutive ADG Award.
